They call themselves ‘The Two Ugly Sisters’.  They even have a successful corporation by the same name, composed of a catering company and restaurant.  They’re really not the least bit unattractive, but that’s neither here nor there.  These two sisters, Jonny Altobell and Penny Sanfilippo, can cook.

... HOME, Fort Lauderdale

Both obtained an Associates of Science Degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University in North Miami, and have years of experience in the food service industry.  Of course, they both love to cook.  “This place is our creative outlet,” Jonny told HOME.  Penny told them, “I can’t paint a picture, but I can do a plate of food.”  Everyday at the Annex Penny and Jonny cook up a different menu of delicious gourmet lunches, with something for everyone.  There is always freshly made soup and lavosh, as well as something vegetarian.  Enjoy your food in the cozy home-like atmosphere on comfy couches with some freshly made coffee or tea.  And, to finish the meal, Seabreeze says, “there is always a delightful homemade dessert (worth the trip alone).”  “The sisters moved down to Florida from Michigan, Altobell in 1983, and Sanfilippo in 1991.  Sanfilippo had a catering company, and both were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church on the corner of S.W. 11th Street and Andrews Avenue. When the small house across the street where the head pastor once lived became available for rent in 2002, the sisters asked if they could take it over.  The church agreed, and today the Annex is a mainstay in the lives of the special residents who have discovered it.”
